A temporary password will be sent immediately to your registered e-mail address or by SMS to your mobile phone, depending on which option you have pre-selected in your user profile. The temporary password is valid for 10 minutes and should be used at once. Enter the temporary password. Then, create a new password and enter it in the correct field. Repeat this new password.
Yes, you can use MinID from outside Norway. If you wish, you can register a foreign mobile phone number in your user profile. PIN-codes will be sent to this mobile phone number. Remember to include the relevant country code.

Communication between citizens and public authorities using the MinID log-in system is secure. Your personal data will be inaccessible to other people as long as no one else has access to your password, PIN-code letter or PIN-codes sent to your mobile phone.

You wish to access an online public service. Certain services require that your identity be known. Those who provide such services, whether they are your municipality or a central government agency, must be sure that you are the person you say you are. Services which require authentication include job applications, applications for kindergarten places or requests for extended payment deadlines for student loans.
Pictograms are used to prevent unwanted persons or programmes from accessing your user account. Pictograms help to determine whether access is being requested by a person or a machine. It is difficult for automated programmes to access user accounts when log-in systems comprise pictogram technology.

Please note that this page is in Norwegian only. If you enter your personal identification number ("fødselsnummer" in Norwegian) in the field and and select "Bestill", you will have ordered a PIN-code letter with new PIN-codes. "Avbryt" means cancel.

Click on "Block PIN-codes". You will be directed to a page where you can block your PIN-codes. You may wish to do this if you have lost your PIN-code letter, or if you think someone else might have gained access to it. However, if you have already created a user account, you can edit your user profile to receive PIN-codes by SMS to your mobile phone, rather than using PIN-codes from the PIN-code letter.

No, MinID is a common log-in system for several online public services, including Altinn. The Altinn single-use codes only provide access to services on http://www.altinn.no/.
The MinID help desk staff can only see personal identification numbers ("fødselsnummer" in Norwegian) that are entered when ordering PIN-codes. A confirmation message appears on their screens indicating that PIN-codes have been ordered for specific personal identification numbers. Otherwise, members of the help desk staff are unable to see any name or personal data.
The envelope is white, and will be marked with an A-priority postage stamp. The address of the sender will be written on the back of the envelope.
If, for example, a letter with PIN-codes cannot be delivered because the wrong address is registered in the Norwegian Population Register, the PIN-code letter will be returned to the Directorate of Taxes.
The Directorate of Taxes is responsible for sending out PIN-code letters.
Contact the National Population Register, via your local tax office, to check that your address is correctly registered. Remember that your post box should be marked with both your given names and surname.
