MinID is a personalised log-in system for accessing online public services from the Norwegian public sector. MinID uses PIN-codes and a password to identify you.

Everyone registered in the National Population Register over the age of 13 years can create a public ID with MinID. To create your public ID, you need to have PIN-codes from the Norwegian Tax Administration. If you have not received a letter with such PIN-codes, you can order one. The PIN-code letter will be sent to the address registered as your place of residence in the National Population Register. It will take a couple of days for you to receive the letter with PIN-codes after you have placed your order.

As of April 2010, more than 2 million people living in Norway have created user accounts with MinID. MinID can be used to access more than 50 online services from various Norwegian public agencies, including the Norwegian Labour and Welfare Administration, the Directorate of Taxes and the State Educational Loan.
